Cross Cultural Training Professor

Cross Cultural Communication

The cross cultural professor provides communication training for American business personnel working with Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Middle Eastern clients (Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates). Likewise, cross cultural training is offered for international companies wanting to better understand American corporate culture.

Why is cross cultural training so important?

In their text Communicating Globally: Intercultural Communication and International Business, Schmidt et al. (2007) highlight the following:

  • Approximately 100,000 U.S. firms are involved in ventures overseas.
  • More than $2 trillion has been invested in the U.S. by foreign corporations.
  • Pacific Rim countries such as India, China, and Japan will continue to influence the U.S. economy averaging $3 billion a week in trade alone.
  • The GDP for Middle Eastern Gulf countries is nine percent and higher.

Just think about it. Within a matter of seconds we can communicate with virtually anyone in the world, and in just hours we can relocate expatriates or goods anywhere in the world! Since we are globally interconnected and interdependent, there exists the need to better understand one another so we can communicate more effectively. Indeed, we are separated by both language and cultural differences and this, in turn, can lead to communicative problems and/or challenges.

Therefore, training workshops are designed to promote greater cross cultural communication understanding so successful intercultural business ventures will transpire.
